Music Tuesdays: Sabi
So last night I caught myself watching Kim's Fairytale Wedding (my girlfriend made me I swear), when I caught a promo for Kim's upcoming reality series Khole & Kim Take New York. Normally, this wouldn't be anything to write home about, but the music in the background grabbed my attention. It was by an artist named Sabi. Not knowing who she was, I did what any sensible person does, I "Youtubed" her. And to my surprise, she's actually one of the most established unestablished artists out there.
WTF? Let me explain what I mean. On the one hand, she's already been featured on the Cobra Starship top 10 Billboard hit You Make Me Feel and is also featured on Britney Spears' (Drop Dead) Beautiful. On the other hand, she is still working her way up, has yet to drop her first album, and has a rather modest following when you consider that shes already performed on the MTV Music Awards (which I actually saw, but completely forgot about, Sorry Sabi).
Ok, so back to the song. It's called Wild Heart and I had it on repeat. It's definitely pop, but a newish and refreshing kind of pop. For now we'll call it "Dubpop." The song features a hard hitting Kick and Snare, an edgy pulsating base, and tons of sweeping synths which are Dubstep staples. It's a far cry from something like You Make Me Feel, and when her album does drop, I'll be looking forward to more tracks like this one.
In the meantime, check out the Youtube video for Wild Heart below and don't forget to visit her website and follow her musical rise on Youtube, Facebook and Twitter (and hopefully Google+ soon).
