Koishi Jewelry: Creation Meets Destruction

What if creation were to stem from destruction? Ivana Damjanović bases her avant-garde jewelry line Koishi on the parallels between these opposing forces. The Serbian line challenges preconceived notions of fashion as beautiful, with sculptural designs christened with names “Big Ugly Ring” or “Destruction Earrings.” Collections titled “Crash” and “Dissolve” (among others) are born from destruction: raw materials are submerged in acid, burned and melted. Creation time clocks in at several minutes, for reckless and undisciplined effect.
On the other side is the architectural allure of “Glare” or “Sharp,” whose designs are planned with the utmost care. The organic structures are inspired by the human anatomy, thus they arise from life itself. It is the epitome of creation, sourced from the bitter foundations of our own species.
Ivana discovers beauty in both creation and destruction with Koishi, combining the paradox into a singular aesthetic of artistic silver jewelry. “Opposites attract” has never rang truer.
