Alexander Wang T's Off With Die Antwoord

Coming on the heels of their newly released music video for ‘I Fink You Freeky’, South African techno-rap group Die Antwoord are placing their footing in other places. It is not a new concept for musicians to collaborate with fashion designers to create new media experiences for both artistic genres. However the unlikely pairing of zef-side Die Antwoord with Alexander Wang’s new Spring 2012 T fashion line brings to light the question: has fashion lost its edge?

The Internet Killed the Video Star?

Media consumption has dissolved into a filtration system of small bits and 140 characters. Our ears now are trained in new ways of consuming music: short, quick, and to the point. In the past, the shortest form of visual media in the music industry was the music video but now our ability to retain information does not extend past what flashes on our screen. Already a dying art form, the music video has been dually affected by the Internet’s shortened attention span. We have entered into the age of music video trailers.

Music Tuesdays: Maggie Szabo (All About Maggie)

A few days ago, I decided to do a little experiment. I went to Youtube (like 600 million other people who do this on a daily basis) and typed “covers” into the browser. No thinking was necessary, I just went ahead and clicked the first link I saw.

While doing some research on Youtube (aka waisting time watching clips of people falling), I was lucky enough to come across the work of Jon Schimdt. Through his collaboration with The Piano Guysand their Youtube channel; John has helped put a fun and entertaining spin on classical music and make it enjoyable for younger generations.

Music Tuesdays: Kait Weston

The challenge of life is to take a single strand of dream and from it, weave a beautiful reality. These words hold strong for 21-year-old Westchester, New York singer and songwriter Kait Weston. Kait began singing at the age of 12; her passion for music only grew from there, when she started performing in her junior year of high school.

While most often singing song covers, over the past few months Weston has been writing her own original songs about the times and trials of life and love. With the inspiration of her own life and the lives of those close to her, Weston has found a beautiful way to reach out through her music. She inspires others who want to make it big to follow their heart and believe in their dreams.
