Map & Atlases Remind Us to Beware and Be Grateful
Sometimes the best new music has been around the block a few times for a bit of aging. This process, which can be likened to “refining one’s sound”, can mold a band into a perfectly well-worn T-shirt that’s never to be thrown away. Map & Atlases are a band that carry their music into complexity with grace, which is a characteristic that can only gained from years of experience.
These Chicago-based indie rockers have been at the music game since 2004 and, with almost a decade under their belts, continue to make moves that bring them to the musical top. Falling under the “math rock” genre, Maps & Atlases bring technical qualities to their songs that are quite subtle at times. Craftsmanship of this caliber creates a devoted audience of listeners that eagerly await the next note.
Enjoy their newest release off their late spring album Beware and Be Grateful, titled “Remote and Dark Years”.
